Privacy Policy

The short version

Junkyard Astronauts collects nothing about you. No accounts of ours, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party tracking, and no servers of ours for anything to be stored on. Everything the game remembers stays on your own computer.

What the game stores, and where

Your settings, key bindings and progress are written to a folder on your machine and read back from it. They are never uploaded, and there is no mechanism in the game for uploading them.

You can delete that folder at any time; the game will start again as it shipped. Uninstalling through Steam removes the game but leaves the folder, so delete it yourself if you want it gone.

Steam's part in it

The game is sold and delivered by Valve on Steam. Buying it, installing it, running it and finding a friend to play with are all Steam features, and everything Valve does with your data is covered by Valve's own privacy policy, not by this one.

Payment details, your Steam account and your purchase history are Valve's. They are never sent to me and I never see them.
Online sessions are found through Steam and carried peer-to-peer over Steam's networking, relayed by Valve's infrastructure. There is no server of mine in the path, and nothing about a session is written down anywhere once it ends.
In an online session, the other players see the name Steam gives the game for you — your Steam persona name — on the scoreboard and in the mission feed. That is the whole of what is shared, and it goes between the players, not to me.
Valve gives every developer aggregate, anonymous sales and usage figures about their own game. That is Valve's reporting, it is not collected by the game, and no individual player is identifiable in it.

What the game does not do

No account, email address, name or phone number is ever asked for.
No analytics, telemetry, crash-reporting service or advertising SDK is built into it.
No data is sold, rented or shared, because none is collected.
No Steam Cloud, no Steam achievements, no online leaderboards. The altitude board runs for a single session and lives only in that session.
No text or voice chat. Players interact only by playing.
Nothing on your computer is read outside the game's own installation and the saved-data folder above.

Network use

Single-player runs entirely offline. Online co-op opens a connection to the other players in your session — over Steam's networking, or over a direct address on a LAN — and that connection carries the state of the yard while you are playing and nothing else. When the session ends, so does the connection, and nothing about it is retained.

Children

The game collects no personal data from anyone, of any age. There is no chat, so there is no way to be contacted by other players through it. Purchases and who your child can play with are governed by the Steam account's own family and parental controls.

Your rights

Rights to access, correct or delete personal data only bite where personal data is held. I hold none, so there is nothing of yours for me to hand over or erase. The one copy of your game data is on your computer, where you can delete it yourself. For data Valve holds about your Steam account, ask Valve.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version replaces this page and the effective date at the top changes with it. If a future update ever made the game collect something, that would be said here plainly and before the update shipped.
