Frequently Asked Questions

Tap each of your octopus's eight tentacles to choose what it throws — rock, paper or scissors. Tapping the same tentacle again cycles to the next throw. Once all eight are loaded, tap BATTLE.

The two octopuses then clash one round at a time. Rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper, paper beats rock. Whoever wins more of the eight rounds wins the match. Win all eight and it is a perfect victory.

Inky throws at random. Blinky mixes random throws with simple patterns. Pinky looks at the throws you tend to favour and counters them. Clyde counters most of what you do, and is meant to be very hard to beat.

Vermillion and indigo are available from the start. The other six — jade, ochre, plum, sumi, teal and rose — unlock one at a time by watching a short video. Open Options and tap any faded octopus.

Buying Remove Ads unlocks all six at once, and removes the videos along with the ads.

Remove Ads is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. It removes every ad from the game permanently and unlocks all eight octopus colours immediately. There is nothing else to buy.

Never during a match, and never on the first few matches you play. After that, a full-screen ad appears occasionally when a match ends — at most one every couple of matches, and never twice in quick succession.

The videos that unlock octopus colours are separate and entirely optional: they only play if you tap a locked colour and choose to watch.

Open Options and tap Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account you used to buy it. Purchases are tied to the Apple Account rather than the device.

Not for single player — matches against the four opponents work entirely offline. Playing against another person needs a connection and a Game Center sign-in.

Tap VERSUS on the main menu. You can either be matched with another player automatically, or invite someone from your Game Center friends. Both of you need to be signed in to Game Center.

Yes. Open Options and tap Ad Preferences to reopen the consent form. You can also turn off tracking entirely in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.

Only on your device. Your record, streaks and unlocked colours never leave the phone. There is no account and nothing to sign up for.
