Overview
WIT — Worth It? ("we", "our", or "the app") turns prices into the hours of work they cost, and helps you track the time you put toward the things you want. That means you tell it some genuinely personal numbers — what you earn, and what you want to buy. This policy explains, plainly, what happens to them. The short version: we do not collect any personal data — ever.
Information We Collect
None. WIT does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. WIT has no servers of its own, collects no analytics, and contains no third-party SDKs. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no passwords, and no advertising identifiers. Our App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected".
What WIT Stores on Your Device
To do its job, the app keeps the following on your iPhone:
- Your pay: your hourly rate, or the salary figure and estimated tax percentage you entered for it to work one out.
- Your work pattern: start and end times, which days you work, and your daily break with whether it's paid.
- Your wish list: each item's name, price, category, and the time you've tracked toward it.
- Your preferences: currency, accent colour, hero style, voice, and whether auto-tracking is on.
This is saved locally using Apple's Core Data and the standard iOS preferences store. It does not leave your device, and we have no way to see it.
Syncing
WIT does not sync your data to iCloud or anywhere else. Your wage, schedule and wish list live on the device you entered them on. If you set up a new iPhone, you'll set WIT up again.
Widgets & Live Activities
- To draw the home-screen and lock-screen widgets and the Live Activity, the app hands a small set of plain values to its own widget extension through a private App Group container on your device: your hourly rate, the displayed item's name and price, the seconds worked toward it and when its timer started, your item count, and your accent colour. Nothing else crosses — not the product links you paste, not your categories, not your schedule.
- That container is part of the app's own sandbox. Nothing in it is transmitted off the device, and no other app can read it.
- Live Activities are the only iOS permission WIT uses. If you've switched them off in iOS Settings, the rest of the app works exactly the same.
Reading a Price from a Link You Paste
- If you paste a product link, the app fetches that page directly from the retailer's website so it can read the listed name and price out of the page's own tags.
- That request goes from your device to the shop's server. It does not pass through any server of ours — we do not have one.
- We do not log, store, or ever see the links you paste. The link itself isn't kept after the price is read.
- The app only ever fetches ordinary web addresses (
httpandhttps); other kinds of link are rejected.
Purchases
- WIT is free to use for one wish-list item, forever. WIT Premium removes that limit, and is available as a yearly subscription (with a 7-day free trial), a monthly subscription, or a one-time Lifetime purchase.
- Every transaction is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store (StoreKit). We never see or receive your name, card, or payment details — the app only reads whether an entitlement is currently active on your Apple Account.
- Subscriptions renew through your Apple Account and can be managed or cancelled at any time in iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.
What We Do NOT Do
- We do not require an account, email address, name, or phone number.
- We do not use third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
- We do not include advertising or any advertising identifiers.
- We do not track you across apps or websites, and the app does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission because it has nothing to track.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone — there is nothing to sell.
- We do not access your camera, photos, contacts, calendar, location, health data, or motion data. The app requests none of these permissions.
Data Storage & Security
- All of your data is stored on your device and protected by Apple's standard device security, including the device passcode and encryption.
- The one network request the app can make — fetching a product page you pasted — uses HTTPS wherever the destination website supports it.
Your Rights & Controls
- Delete an item: open any wish-list item and delete it at any time.
- Change your numbers: your hourly rate, currency, schedule and break are all editable in Settings whenever they change.
- Start over: "Reset onboarding" in Settings takes you back through setup.
- Delete everything: deleting the app removes all of its data from your device. Because nothing is synced or uploaded, there are no other copies anywhere for us to remove.
- Turn off Live Activities: revoke them for WIT in iOS Settings at any time; every other feature is unaffected.
Children's Privacy
WIT is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where local law requires) without verified parental consent.
