There are two ways: scan their QR code using the camera, or paste their share code (e.g. WAY-K7PQ-2X9M) into the Add Friend field. They'll need to add you back for mutual sharing to work.
No. Your location is never shared unless you have added the person as a friend, sharing is enabled for them, and you have approved the request (or Festival Mode is active). Ghost Mode instantly stops all sharing.
Festival Mode lets you continuously share your location with all approved friends for a set duration (1–24 hours) without needing to approve each request. It auto-expires when the timer runs out. Perfect for festivals, concerts, and big events.
Ghost Mode is a hard kill switch. When enabled, all location sharing stops immediately, all published location records are deleted, and your device stops sending location updates entirely. No one can see where you are.
Go to the Crew tab, tap the friend, and toggle off sharing. You can also remove or block them entirely.
Requests from people not in your friend list appear in the Stranger Inbox on the Crew tab. You can choose to Add, Ignore, or Block them. Blocked codes are permanently silenced.
Yes. Go to Privacy settings and tap "Rotate Share Code". This revokes all outstanding location records, deletes your old directory entry, and generates a fresh code. Anyone with your old code can no longer find or contact you.

No. WAY contains no ads, no third-party analytics, and no tracking SDKs. We don't sell your data. Your location flows through Apple's CloudKit — we don't operate our own servers.
WAY requires an internet connection to share and receive location updates. Without connectivity, the map will show the last known positions but won't update in real time.
Enable Ghost Mode to revoke all shared locations, then use "Rotate Share Code" to delete your public directory entry. Deleting the app removes all local data. No data remains on our side.
