Overview
Ordo ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app handles and how it is kept private. Ordo is built around a single principle: we do not collect any personal data — ever.
Information We Collect
None. Ordo does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. Ordo has no servers of its own, collects no analytics, and contains no third-party SDKs. There are no accounts and no advertising identifiers. Our App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected".
Your Tasks
- Every task you capture — its text, its lane, its reminder time, whether it repeats, and when you completed it — is stored locally on your device in a single file belonging to the app.
- Ordo does not sync your tasks to iCloud or anywhere else. Your board stays on the device it was created on.
- Deleting the app deletes all of it. Because nothing is uploaded, there are no other copies to remove.
Microphone & Speech Recognition
This is the only part of Ordo that touches audio, so it is worth being precise about it.
- The microphone is only active while you are dictating a task — from the moment you tap the microphone until Ordo detects that you have stopped talking, or you stop it yourself. It is never on in the background, and Ordo cannot record while it is closed.
- Audio is not saved. Ordo writes no recordings to disk. The audio is passed to Apple's speech recogniser as it is captured, and discarded.
- On-device by default. Ordo asks Apple's speech recogniser to run entirely on your iPhone whenever your chosen language supports it. In that mode your voice never leaves the device.
- Apple's servers are opt-in. Some languages can only be transcribed with help from Apple. Ordo will not do this unless you turn on "Use Apple's servers when needed" yourself, in the language picker. It is off when you install the app. When it is on and a language requires it, audio is sent to Apple for transcription under Apple's Privacy Policy; it is not sent to us, because there is no "us" to send it to.
- Permission for the microphone and for speech recognition is only requested the first time you tap the microphone, never on launch. You can decline both and use the whole app by typing.
Reminders & Notifications
- Ordo can notify you when a task is due. Reminders are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device; nothing is sent anywhere.
- Permission is only requested at the moment you first set a reminder time. You can decline and still use every other part of the app.
- Tasks in the red lane are delivered as time-sensitive notifications so they can break through a Focus. Amber and green use ordinary notifications.
What We Do NOT Do
- We do not require an account, email address, name, or phone number.
- We do not use third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
- We do not include advertising or any advertising identifiers.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone.
- We do not save audio recordings.
- We do not access your photos, contacts, calendar, location, or other device data.
Purchases
- Ordo is free, with a limit of 6 live tasks. Ordo Pro removes that limit and unlocks repeating tasks, the Pulse overview and the extra palettes — as a monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase.
- The transaction is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store payment information — the app only reads whether the purchase is active on your Apple Account.
Data Storage & Security
- All task data is stored on your device, protected by Apple's standard device security.
- Ordo makes no network requests of its own. The only network traffic it can cause is Apple's speech recognition, and only if you have opted into it for a language that requires it.
Your Rights & Controls
- Delete a task: Remove any task from the board at any time.
- Delete all data: Deleting the app removes everything.
- Revoke the microphone: Turn off Microphone or Speech Recognition for Ordo in iOS Settings at any time. Typing continues to work.
- Stay offline: Leave "Use Apple's servers when needed" switched off to keep dictation on the device.
- Turn off reminders: Revoke notification permission in iOS Settings at any time.
Children's Privacy
Ordo is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where local law requires) without verified parental consent.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective" date.
