Tap to cast your line, then wait for Bob the Bobber to dip under and tap again the moment it bobs to set the hook. During the reel, hold to pull the fish in and let go when the tension gauge runs high — pull too hard for too long and the line snaps. Land the fish to add it to your Fishdex.
Each rod has its own strengths — some make fish bite faster, some make reeling more forgiving, and some boost your luck of hooking rare species. Bait adds extra rare-fish luck on top of your rod for a limited number of catches. Buy and equip both in the Tackle Shop using coins you earn by selling fish.
The Starter Bundle is an optional one-time in-app purchase that gives you a head-start: a chunk of coins, a solid mid-tier rod, and a tin of premium bait.
There is also Pocket of Coins, a smaller repeatable coin top-up for when you'd like a few more coins without the full bundle.
Both are entirely optional — the whole game can be played and completed for free — and neither is a subscription. Pocket of Coins is a consumable, so the coins are spent in-game and it can't be restored; the Starter Bundle can.
Open the Tackle Shop and tap Restore Purchase. As long as you're signed in to the same Apple ID you bought it with, your purchase will be re-applied. If a purchase ever doesn't restore, email us and we'll help.
No personal data. Catch a Bit has no accounts and no ads, and it never tracks you across apps. Your progress lives only on your device. The app sends only anonymous usage statistics (such as app launches and milestones like your first catch) via TelemetryDeck, never linked to you. The only other network use is when you make or restore an in-app purchase, which is handled entirely by Apple. See the privacy policy for the full details.
No — Catch a Bit stores your progress locally on each device and does not use iCloud sync, so your Fishdex and coins are separate per device. Deleting the app erases its saved data. Your Starter Bundle purchase, however, can always be restored on any device signed in to the same Apple ID.
Yes. The entire game plays offline. You only need a connection to buy or restore a purchase in the Tackle Shop (anonymous usage statistics are sent when a connection is available).
There's no reset button in the game. To start fresh, delete and reinstall the app. Note that deleting the app permanently removes your saved progress, since nothing is stored in the cloud.
No. Catch a Bit has no ads and no tracking across apps. The only optional spends are the one-time Starter Bundle and the Pocket of Coins top-up, both in the Tackle Shop.
